Vice President of Engineering Fintech Startup in Tongo

We are seeking a hands-on, visionary Vice President of Engineering to join our rapidly growing fintech startup. This key leadership role will report jointly to the CEO and Chief Product Officer and will be instrumental in shaping our technological direction, driving innovation, and actively contributing to our development efforts.

As the Vice President of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading our technology strategy, overseeing software development, and ensuring the scalability and security of our fintech platforms. You will work closely with the product team to align technology initiatives with business goals and drive the company's digital transformation efforts. Importantly, you will also be an active developer on the team, contributing directly to code and managing development projects.

Strategic Leadership & Technical Direction

• Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy that supports the company's long-term vision and objectives
• Collaborate with the Chief Product Officer and other executives to align technology initiatives with product roadmaps and business goals
• Identify emerging technologies and trends in the fintech space to maintain a competitive edge
• Oversee the design, development, and implementation of innovative fintech solutions that enhance our platform, potentially including AI, blockchain, and advanced analytics
• Establish technology standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines for the organization
• Lead the evaluation and selection of appropriate technology platforms and frameworks

Hands-on Development & Dev Management

• Actively participate in coding and development tasks, contributing to critical projects and features
• Lead by example, demonstrating best practices in coding, testing, and documentation
• Manage development projects, including sprint planning, code reviews, and release management
• Mentor and guide developers, providing technical leadership and fostering their growth
• Implement and oversee DevOps practices to improve development efficiency and quality

Operational Excellence & Innovation

• Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our technology infrastructure
• Implement DevOps practices to improve development efficiency and quality
• Manage technology budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships
• Drive the development of cutting-edge fintech products and features
• Collaborate with product managers to translate business requirements into technical specifications
• Oversee proof-of-concept projects and evaluate new technologies for potential integration

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred
• 5+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with a strong background in fintech or financial services
• Proven track record of successfully leading technology teams in fast-paced startup environments
• Deep understanding of modern software development practices, cloud computing, and fintech-specific technologies
• Strong business acumen with the ability to align technology initiatives with business objectives
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization
• Experience in managing budgets, vendor relationships, and technology partnerships
