Our mobile games--Animation Throwdown, Bit Heroes, and surviv.io-- have been downloaded hundreds of millions of times!
We’re currently exploring the future of gaming and are diving headfirst into web3 technology. Our Blockchain team is leading the way into this exciting new world and we want you to join us!
We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join our game development team. This is a hybrid-remote role, the team meets and works together in our Santiago, Chile office once a week on Wednesdays and you are welcome to use the office more than that if you like. You'll be part of a global team working on server-side applications for our gaming portal Kongregate.com.

Job functions

  • Develop and write well-designed, stable code using Java/PHP, and similar.
  • Works with Producers and Project Managers to design and estimate engineering work plans.
  • Contribute to planning and resource scheduling for the engineering team against project deadlines.
  • Work cross-functionally with our US-based teams.

Qualifications and requirements

  • 4+ years experience programming skills as a backend engineer with Java/PHP.
  • Solid knowledge of Git
  • Strong knowledge around SQL
  • Strong knowledge of Web Technologies
  • Basic knowledge of Linux and Unix.
  • Read and use other people's code
  • Experienced with SmartFoxServer a plus
  • Unity knowledge a plus
  • Advanced English speaking skill

  • Experience in collaborating and communicating asynchronously.
  • An urge to document all the things so you don't need to learn the same thing twice.
  • An enthusiastic, go-for-it attitude. When you see something broken, you can't help but fix it.
  • A strong sense for action and know how to iterate through a problem quickly.
