Senior Software Engineer JS/Python in The Muse

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our application development squad, to work on our two brands Fairygodboss.com and The Muse.com, working on products designed to unite job seekers with a great job. We are looking for applicants with deep experience in javascript, with some python/django experience as well. We primarily use React, Next.js, Typescript for our front end applications, with FastAPI, Django, Python, Node, AWS, and PostgreSQL for the services and other applications. We also rely on Docker, CircleCI, and Github for our workflow.

We expect you to be familiar with most of these technologies, with demonstrated mastery of javascript and python in your work experience.

We work remotely and are looking for teammates who can work primarily during our business hours of 9-6pm (GMT-5).

• You’ll build new features that millions of users will see and love. You’ll be working with the team to release modern, lean, well-built web applications that grow and improve every day.
• You’ll be a driver of best practices and product iterations.
• You will champion site performance both in actual and perceived speed. This includes both API performance as well as front end best practices.
• You will work closely with technical and product team members in an iterative process for features and products.

• You have 5+ years of professional experience.
• You design and build scalable solutions with javascript and python, particularly leveraging frameworks such as React, FastAPI, and Django.
• You have confidence in your work and are secure in shipping to production frequently. Continuous integration, automated deployments, and monitoring and alerting are all part of your day-to-day.
• You understand and practice clean code principles, such as SOLID, DRY, and YAGNI, and how to apply them to the problems at hand.
• Everyone loves a green field, and you’ll get that too. But code can does rot, so we all pitch in to weed tech debt out of the garden.
• You love data-driven development. Pushing the needle on a metric makes you smile.
