MixRank processes petabytes of data every month from web crawls, Google Play Store, Apple App Store, social media, and dozens of other sources. We have hundreds of customers using our data products including Google, Amazon, Facebook, Intel, and Adobe, across industries Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Security.
As a Junior Software Engineer at MixRank, you will be part of a dynamic team solving challenging technical problems across a broad range of disciplines. Your contributions will encompass areas such as web application development, data mining, machine learning and data science, data transformation and ETL processes, data modeling, database scaling and infrastructure
We tailor your role to your interests and strengths, allowing you to work on a subset of these areas that best matches your skills and passion. You will be working with a fast-moving codebase written primarily in Python, Rust, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Nix. You will have a fully automated development environment set up within hours and start contributing code from day one.
You will be expected to collaborate using tools like Git on Linux environments, develop solutions that scale with massive data sets, and participate in deployments that occur multiple times daily. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining and evolving the systems that provide our customers with reliable, high-quality data services.
We are seeking passionate individuals for whom programming is more than just a job — it's a passion. Ideal candidates have a generalist software engineering background and an eagerness to work across multiple domains such as backend and frontend web development, data mining, and infrastructure.
While prior experience with the exact tech stack is not mandatory, familiarity or interest in Python, PostgreSQL, Linux, and Git is essential to get productive swiftly. Additional beneficial experience includes working knowledge of Rust, TypeScript, Nix, machine learning/data science concepts, data transformation/ETL, database scaling strategies, and DevOps practices.
We value candidates who thrive in autonomous, collaborative, and remote environments and have strong problem-solving skills. Candidates should be comfortable working with large-scale distributed systems and handling complex data challenges.
Soft skills such as curiosity, persistence, ability to learn quickly, love for technology, and strong communication in a remote team setting are highly valued. Since we operate at a larger scale than typical startups, you will be expected to take ownership and demonstrate initiative in your work.
Experience with large-scale distributed file systems, high-performance computing infrastructure, full-scale web crawling operations, and static analysis of mobile applications (Android APKs, iOS IPAs) would be advantageous. Familiarity with data science and machine learning workflows, as well as frontend development frameworks or backend APIs, will further enhance your contributions.
Knowledge of Nix for reproducible development environments and deployment automation, and Rust for systems programming, are desirable but not strictly required, as we prioritize candidates' ability to learn and grow.
We are a fully remote, globally distributed team of over 47 employees from more than 20 countries, fostering an inclusive and diverse culture. We are a profitable and employee-owned company with no outside funding dependencies, enabling stability and long-term growth.
Our development environment is fully automated, allowing you to start contributing on your very first day. We deploy code multiple times per day with quick production rollouts. We care about our team members as individuals and prioritize passion for technology over specific prior experience.
You will be welcomed into a culture obsessed with programming, big data, databases, compilers, hardware, math, and the internet. We encourage applicants from all geographies and backgrounds to join us and help tackle technically challenging and meaningful problems.
