Solutions Architect in Convo

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Solution Architect to join our growing Product Engineering team. This critical role focuses on driving technical architecture decisions, defining technical contracts, and accelerating delivery for our innovative telephony and video conferencing application. You will play a key role in optimizing team efficiency and ensuring high-quality software releases. This position will have secondary leadership/mentorship responsibilities.

Solution Architecture & Technical Contracts:

• Define and champion the platform's technical architecture, focusing on scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
• Lead architectural design discussions, evaluating trade-offs, and making informed technical decisions.
• Define and document clear technical contracts (APIs, data structures, integration points) between teams and services.
• Proactively identify and address technical debt.
• Drive the adoption of best practices for software development and architecture.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure adherence to architectural principles and technical contracts.

Delivery Acceleration & Efficiency:

• Collaborate with the Product team to understand requirements and translate them into actionable technical tasks.
• Partner with the Scrum Master on sprint planning, ensuring clear requirements, well-defined acceptance criteria for Jira tickets, and accurate estimations.
• Drive the technical refinement of tickets, ensuring clarity, feasibility, and actionable tasks.
• Drive continuous improvement in development processes and tooling.
• Identify and remove technical roadblocks.

Leadership:

• Provide technical guidance to engineers as needed.
• Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
• Review Architecture Designs and RFCs (Request for Comment) and provide constructive feedback.

• High-level expertise with telephony and video conferencing technologies, including WebRTC, SIP, VoIP, RTP, RTCP, and SCTP. Experience with relevant platforms such as OpenSIPs and video conferencing SDKs/APIs (e.g., Zoom) is essential.
• Proficient with relevant programming languages (e.g., Java, Elixir, JavaScript, Dart, Python) and mobile (e.g., Flutter, React Native) and web (e.g., React, Angular) frameworks. This includes demonstrated experience building backend services using Node.js, Spring, and gRPC, with a strong understanding of backend development best practices.
• Proven experience building and deploying applications on AWS, utilizing technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, RabbitMQ, RESTful and GraphQL APIs, and CI/CD pipelines. Demonstrated experience and proficiency in these AWS-related areas are required.

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience in a solution architect role, with a strong focus on technical design and delivery.
• Experience working with Scrum Masters and Agile methodologies.
• Strong English spoken and written communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
